Below you will find a brief description of various terms used throughout this course

CGC = “Christian Growth Checklist”, an evaluation tool using 5 phases of growth to determine a person’s level of spiritual growth.

Cohort = A small group of 3-12 fellow students who meet weekly or on a modular basis for accountability, prayer, and discussion on WDALI assignments.

Cohort leader = A designated facilitator of cohort meetings. This can be a mature leader or a “student leader” designated by the group to organize meetings and report to WDA on the progress of the group.

Course mentor = a student’s personal mentor for the duration of the course. This person is selected by the student. A course mentor can be the student’s cohort leader OR somebody else. In the absence of a qualified mentor, a peer mentor (accountability partner) can fulfill this role. Course mentors do not need to be part of WDALI, but must sign a mentoring agreement and read Life Coaching.

Exit Interview = A personal interview between a cohort leader and a student evaluating their progress in the course in order to determine their eligibility for graduation.

Life Coaching = synonymous with “mentoring”. WDA uses this term interchangeably with mentoring to describe a one-on-one discipleship relationship in which a more mature believer comes alongside a younger believer in a hands-on coaching relationship that is both relational and application-driven to help the disciple “think, feel, and act” more like Jesus.

GD = “Guided Discussion”, a set of study questions designed to be used in a group discussion.

PP = “Pocket Principle”, a short article outlining a concept.

TO = “Teaching Outline”, teaching notes outlining the content from a pocket principle designed to be used in sermon or classroom formats.

NGP = “Needs, Goals, Projects”, a life coaching tool used to create intenational growth projects around a disciple’s specific needs.
